Once again, another summer has come and (gasp) gone.

As always, so has the LCN end of summer bash. In true creative network form, the turnout last night was astonishing. Walking onto the patio around 6pm, it was shoulder to shoulder all the way to the bar.

As one of the last chances to truly enjoy a patio bar this year, what a great event to have to celebrate the end of another summer and gather all the creative minds in the city. The culture, the atmosphere and the mingling of London’s creative industry makes each LCN unique and exciting every time I attend.

Thanks to TJ Baxter's for providing the venue and to all of the committed individuals and companies whom help organize it.

Golfshot listens and acts.

In a previuos blog I discussed that Golfshot was an iphone ap that I was saying was appealing to me as an older audience and a way to get men over 50 into the technology. So about six weeks ago , I wanted to use my Golfshot at our little  course in Port Stanley “ Kettle Creek”  but the maps and card were not available on the golf course listings. I play here a lot because of our family cottage and it kind of made me mad about my investment in this app. But cooling down, I did remember they had invited people to let them know about any club that their members wanted and they would add them. What they wanted to do this was a photo of both sides of the score card and they would do the rest. I used my iphone to take the picture of the scorecard  and sent it off. Last week we were playing at Kettle Creek again and for fun, I checked the course listings. It was there. To say I was pleased with the service was an understatement. Now that they have taken content from me and then made it for me, I feel part of the app and part of the Golfshot  community. Thank you for listening and acting Golfshot.

Many of the advertising campaigns used in the TV show “MadMen” feature the actual ads that ran back in the day. However, although the ads were real, they were often selling dreams, using fantasy to persuade people to buy their clients' products and services. One of the first women to become CEO in Advertising at Wells Rich Greene in 1966,  Mary Wells was the highest paid ad exec of her day before selling her shop.

In a Mad Man's game, Mary Wells succeeded spectacularly.  Wells and her agency were responsible for an astonishing number of memorable tag lines and creative concepts, including:

President

The driving force behind Link Advertising Inc., which was co-founded in 1987, Anne has worked in the advertising industry for 30 years. Prior to successfully launching Link, she worked with Lintas International in England and later with several Canadian agencies, managing multi-disciplined operation functions for the companies. Her grasp of the industry is extensive and includes powerful creativity, event management and an obsessive attention to detail required to make the difference between a good and a great agency.

Over the years, Anne has worked on such prominent accounts as Unilever (Lever Brothers), Canada Trust, General Motors Defence-Locomotive and Diesel Division, Northern Telecom, Lerners LLP, City of London, Hyland Seeds (W.G. Thompson), Terra International - Argromart and BASF Agriculture Chemicals, Specialty Products, Premix and Pharmaceuticals, LHLS (London Hospital Linen Service Inc.), and Accucaps Industries Limited.

After graduating from the University of Guelph, Kingsley spent 15 years in the industry building his marketing and sales skills, which have prepared him well for client service. He moved smoothly from product management into account service and then moved up through the ranks of several agencies with large corporate portfolios to the position of President. Now, he is a managing partner at Link Advertising Inc.

His account experience is extensive and includes London Health Sciences Centre, Harrison Pensa Lawyers, London Economic Development Corporation, Accucaps Industries Limited, Bridgestone Firestone Canada, Wyeth Canada, Syngenta, Connex Ontario, CrossLinks and businesshealth.

A multi-disciplined designer, Curt understands the process of effective communication. Underneath his quiet demeanour is a motivated and highly creative mind. With over 20 years experience in various roles including creative director, designer, illustrator and production artist. Curt has an extensive education in the arts and has been fortunate to have passed his knowledge along as an instructor at Fanshawe College. Brent Patroch
Chief Technology Officer

Brent started his career in web technology at the age of 14, this makes him a guru of web technology. He knows his stuff and can drill down, hold court, make it clear, build it and then tell you how he did it in layman's terms. Since graduating from RCC Institute of Technology with an Honours degree nine years ago, where he also was employed as peer-teacher, he has been a leader in the digital frontier initiating and building dynamic websites. Brent specializes in content management and e-commerce sites. He is fluent in many programming languages and quietly and efficiently goes about his work. Brent is also able to trouble shoot our network administration and can fix computers. nd, as if that isn’t enough, Brent is an accredited auctioneer and has managed an auction firm for five years. A man of many talents and a great addition to the Link team.

Matt co-founded Creative City Web Development in London, ON and is an eMarketing teacher at the post-secondary level. He holds a diploma in Business Marketing and an Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design.

A television producer turned marketing writer, Louise was introduced to the web world when she was asked to write the Canada Trust EasyWeb site more than a decade ago.
